Automatophones
The exhibition presents to the general public a collection of self-playing mechanical devices and instruments characterised by intriguing craftwork and ingenuity of long-forgotten technical solutions.

Most exhibits are fully functional and the visitors are invited to switch on their starting mechanisms and admire not just the sight but also the sound of them. The educational section features a number of interactive models that help understand basic principles of mechanisms that are hidden inside the automatophone boxes. Exhibits include player pianos (or pianolas) made in the Liberec area, orchestrions, polyphones, small pin music boxes, Intona organettes and hand organs to name just a few. |
