The exhibition shows the history of Liberec as evidenced by standalone objects from the collections of the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec, the State District Archive Liberec, the Technical Museum of the Jizera Mountains and from private collections.

It opens with a section named A City is Born focusing on the growth of crafts, the acquisition of city rights and the everyday life against a backdrop of wars and epidemics. It is followed by a section entitled From a Country Town to the Metropolis of the North describing the tumultuous 19th century and spotlighting the city’s progress and its growing confidence. This section includes a part dedicated to the manufacture in the 20th century. The Wild Wild North is a special section showcasing exhibits from the First World War, the Nazi Barbarism Museum as well as relic-like objects documenting the year 1968.
