The North Bohemian Museum staff is often involved in creating permanent exhibitions outside the museum and in different institutions. At present, external exhibitions open to visitors include “War Production” in Jiřetín pod Bukovou, “AL Reichenau Concentration Camp & Getewent Arms Factory” in Rychnov u Jablonce nad Nisou, an archaeological exhibition in the Svijany Castle or a miniature exhibition showcasing original furnishings or historical souvenirs at Ještěd.

„War production“ exhibition in Jiřetín pod Bukovou | |||
In 2014, a permanent exhibition was opened by Detoa company as a part of the “War Industrial” project focusing on mapping of war production and forced labour camps within the region. The main focus of the exhibition in Jiřetín is the military history of the factory and the nearby forced labour and prisoner camp. The exhibition notably includes unique models of tanks that once served as mock-ups for soldier training, boxes of aircraft models used by anti-aircraft artillery crews, a wooden auxiliary aircraft fuel tank and other curiosities, including a 1/2 scale model of the V1 Reichenberg flying bomb. "AL Reichenau concentration camp and Getewent arms factory" exhibition | |||
Since June 2015, the museum in Rychnov u Jablonce nad Nisou has hosted a permanent exhibition dedicated to the AL Reichenau concentration camp and Getewent company. The exhibition offers a snapshot of Getewent, from the standpoint of a company exploiting forced labour, and reflected in the mirror of conditions in the AL Reichenau concentration camp. The main purpose of the exhibition is to preserve the memory of the place and to ingrain the Nazi forced labour past in the local history so that history can fulfil its role and we can learn from it in the future. The renovated Svijany castle hosting a unique archaeological exhibition | |||
In June 2016, the renovated castle dating back to 1578 became home to a new cultural and historical centre, with the exhibition showcasing the most ancient history of the Liberec Region and promoting its unique archaeological site of Central European importance as well as other major regional monuments. The castle houses an exhibition showcasing unique Bronze Age archaeological findings from the area of Příšovice and Svijany, a renovated interior including frescoes of the chapel’s ceiling, a smaller exhibition of the Liberec Region underground or brewing and spa mini-exhibitions. Exhibition at Ještěd | |||
In 2012, the North Bohemian Museum launched an acquisition event called “Donate a Piece of/to Ještěd” aimed at collecting original furnishings, documentation, souvenirs as well as personal memories of authors linked to the world-famous broadcast transmitter and hotel above the city of Liberec. Up to date, the museum has managed to get hold of hundreds of items of which most have already been displayed or published. In a permanent mini-exhibition displayed directly at the Ještěd Hotel, visitors can admire a legendary china dinner set designed for Ještěd by Karl Wünsch, a glass-maker from Nový Bor, a model of the initial design of Ještěd by Karel Hubáček, which was not put in place, or historical souvenirs.
